Comment on Is there a Canadian market for American online programs? by Tony Bates

Hi, Dennis

Yes, in terms of gaps in online learning in Canada, I particularly mentioned engineering, as well as agriculture, forestry and food sciences, specialist areas of health (radiology, gerontology, psychiatry, pediatrics, pain management, etc.) for paramedical and ancillary personnel (social workers, care workers, etc.) and computer sciences (apparently computer scientists think online learning is great for everyone else except themselves.) I emphasise that these are gaps in FOR-CREDIT programming (bachelors and masters), although there is probably a huge market for MOOCs or other open access provision in these areas as well. I’d much prefer Canadian institutions responded to these needs, though.
