Transforming Education to Support Our Common Goal
When it comes to digital transformation, there are so many components to consider, especially those at the heart of it – providing an inclusive and quality education. It is this type of education that allows our students to develop the skills they need to support and stimulate future economic growth – it is education’s common goal.
So how do we get started? The ability to provide inclusive and quality education that is both personalized and collaborative is a journey, and it begins with developing educator, leader, and school capacity.
So where can you start? The Microsoft Educator Community offers a vast number of resources, courses, and lessons so you can be prepared to lead 21st century learning activities. Here you can also join the community, where you can communicate, collaborate, and share best practices with over 150,000 educators worldwide!
Now that you’ve gotten yourself started, let’s look at some of the other skills and resources to work towards our common goal for students. Literacy and numeracy targets are critical in preparing our students for the future. With Office 365 for Education free for teachers and students, and tools such as Learning Tools, you’ll be sure to provide each student with equal opportunity and the personalized environment they need to succeed. Vocational skills for employability are another critical skillset, including skills such as digital literacy and computational thinking. With tools such as Code Builder for Minecraft: Education Edition, and programs such as STEM Saturdays at the Microsoft stores, students can be supported in a variety of ways to build their skillsets for success in future careers.
Lastly, let’s look at how you as educators can align to the Sustainable Development Goals, set by the UN in 2015 with the goal of supporting sustainable development by the year 2030. By aligning curriculum to these targets, educators can help build students’ skillsets, develop global competencies, and stimulate action in education. We even have a short course to guide you on Teaching Sustainable Goals, in partnership with the World’s Largest Lesson and UNICEF.
